Sherston Velo chose the Gent-Wevelgem event as our spring classic trip in 2017.

Our contingent of 22 riders made us the best represented UK club at the event and we had plenty of riders in the 135km and 220km routes.

We had a beautiful, if breezy, day out in Flanders fields and hills riding on roads, cobbles and the gravel 'plug-streets'. The route took us through many moving First World War sites, and we paused to pay our respects at the Menin Gate in Ypres.

Some obligatory beer-sampling and catching the pro race twice on Sunday completed a great trip.
